Shoes for 2010

Put a little sparkle in your step this season with next Spring's latest shoe styles!

Shiny embellishments, bold colors, and sky-high heels are a fresh and funky way to finish off a cute outfit.

Make a statement with cut-outs, bright hues, feathers, jewels, and fringe. Embellishments are everywhere, heels are higher, and when it comes to platforms, the bigger the better.

With so many trends it is easy to embrace next season's looks! Here's two to try:

Ankle Boots

They're fringed, caged, and causing quite the stir. Ankle boots are popping up in shoe stores around the country this season, and match everything from mini-dresses to brightly-colored skinny jeans. Re-boot any outfit with Madden Girl by Steve Madden Women's "Sesame" Heeled Ankle Boots ($56.99 at overstock.com)

Extreme Heels

This season’s hottest shoe is the ankle-breaker. Towering stilettos as high as 7 inches were featured in fashion shows from Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Louboutin. These death-defying heels are probably not the wisest choice to wear to work, but they are nevertheless a great way to revamp your classic little black dress. Try Forever 21's Strappy Suede Heels ($24.80) for an evening out...don't worry, they only hit 5-inches.

Time to Sparkle!

Wearing sequins and glitter may seem a little Vegas-showgirl-y, (except during New Years maybe, when it's alright to look like a disco ball); but with all the cute sparkly clothes hitting department stores, how you can you not rock it during this holiday season?

If you're looking for budget-friendly finds, Forever 21 has just launched their new "Sparkle and Shine" line, filled with sequined leggings, metallic tops, and other eye-catching articles.

Their Belted Sequin Dress is flattering for all body types, due to the short length and waist-cinching belt. It only comes in basic black, but it's sparkle will have you standing out during your holiday parties!

For the ultra-outgoing girl, a sparkly red beret will add both sophistication and whimsy to your look. The Mini Sequin Beret from Wet Seal is cheap, bright, and best of all...sparkly! It can work with a red and black dress or simply denim jeans.

Winter Shopping on a Budget

Want to bundle up this winter without breaking the bank?

Stores are stocking up this season with cheap coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to keep you warm during the holidays.

Love Change Sweater, Macy's

Soft, cable-knit sweaters are great for chilly mornings and dress up easily for a night out! The cable-knit Love Change Sweater is now on sale at Macy's, for only $22.49! Accessorize it or any sweater with a chic scarf and black skinny jeans and you have a warm outfit that works all day.

Where to get a cute scarf to match your sweaters? Performance Fleece Scarves from Old Navy are warm, come in over a dozen colors, and are only $2 each! You could buy 5 different colors and still have enough money left for a warm latte...or matching Performance Fleece Gloves.

Fall 2009 Trends

Bright-colored leggings, coats, and bags are cropping up everywhere this season, proving that you don't have to succumb to a drab wardrobe in drab weather.

Designers such as Michael Kors (shown left), Carolina Herrera, and Tibi have featured bright hues in their collections for Fall 2009.

How do you wear this look? Simple.

If you don't want to look like a giant highlighter, pick a brightly-colored coat in a refined, tailored cut (ie. not a poncho). The Shield Button Coat from Forever 21 pairs a rich, royal blue with the simplicity of a double-breasted jacket. The result is an updated take on an old classic.

If you're hesitant to deck your entire body out in colors of the rainbow, try simply adding a splash of color to your outfit.

The Faryn Pocket Scarf by Fossil, $48, will add the right touch of brightness to a basic black ensemble without seeming overbearing.

The candy-colored collection of tights and leggings from American Apparel make it easy to transform that little black dress into a party-ready ensemble in a snap.

Their RSAPH Opaque Pantyhose come in dozens of colors (my favorite being this bright purple) and are only $14 each!

Pair some of these with black flats and you'll look anything but boring!

Have a great Fall, 2009!
